POST DOCTORAL RESEARCHER

Francesca Destefanis

June 2023- present

After obtaining my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Molecular Biotechnology at the University of Torino, I carried out a PhD in Biomolecular Sciences at the University of Trento, studying the role of Myc-activated metabolic pathways in the survival of hyperproliferating cells at the expense of wild type cells, in Drosophila melanogaster. I thus became aware of the potential of Drosophila in understanding the basis of adaptation, both at cell-tissue and organism-environment levels. In González lab, I am carrying out a project aimed at investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying gene-environment associations in the context of current global change in Drosophila melanogaster natural populations.
